Having problem seeing doctor... need advice? (only 6.5 wks preg)?

Two at-home preg tests and six tell-tell symptoms, show I am pregnant as of 7/10. Hooray. We are ecstatic. Convienently, I already had an Annual OBGYN appt scheduled for Wed 7/11 so I could confirm, but late Tue 7/10 , my doc鈥檚 office left a vm on my mobile phone canceling my appt; did not get VM until after biz hrs. I called back next day and earliest appt time avail is 7/25. My husband and I are both troubled over this. I have been going to this OBGYN since 1998, and I am 39 year鈥檚 old so I have a relationship, and I鈥檓 sort of a high-risk pregnancy. Should I go with the flow here or should I be persistent on an earlier appt?Having problem seeing doctor... need advice? (only 6.5 wks preg)?
I would insist on going in to at least have them confirm the pregnancy through urine and/or blood tests. Just explain to them that you are concerned because of your age and this being your first pregnancy you have some questions.

They should be willing to see you after this. The reason they want you to wait until 8 or even 12 weeks of pregnancy is so they do a lot of things at once. Get your medical history; blood work; pevic exam/pap smear; and even an ultrasound.

I insisted on going in as soon as possible because I had a few questions about medication I was taking at the time and needed to get started on prenatal vitamins. A caring doctor will acknowledge your concerns and be happy to see you earlier.Having problem seeing doctor... need advice? (only 6.5 wks preg)?
I would request an earlier appointment. If they are completely booked, ask to be notified ASAP in the event of a cancellation. Explain to the receptionist about your age, etc. If you don't get any response, ask to speak to a nurse regarding medical questions. Then just explain the situation to the nurse. I have always had better luck speaking with one of the nurses than the receptionists. Also, ask the nurse if you can stop by and get a prescription for prenatal vitamins before your first visit. Better yet, ask if they have any samples you can pick up. Most OB's have lots of samples. I am 32 weeks and haven't bought any yet. I am also 38, so I know how you feel about wanting to get in there right away. Best wishes.
Nine days isn't such a long time to wait, but if you feel you really need to see your OBGYN then phone them and explain your concerns. Ask them nicely if they can't please squeeze you in somewhere. From experience I know that being nice usually works better with the receptionists (or nurses) than if you start to shout. Afterall, they're going to make your appointments for the next 9 months, and they can get rude or nasty. I'm not saying this will happen, but I've met a few who do this.

If they really can't, then try to stay calm (DO NOT stress yourself out or start to panic) and wait for the 25th. It's around the corner.

Good luck and I hope you can get in to see your doc.
Heck, my doctor wouldn't even see me in the office until I was a FULL 8 WEEKS pregnant.

Then, it was filling out paperwork, getting a pap, and scheduling an ultrasound.

There is NO reason to see them soo early.
Go with the flow. 7/25 is not that far away. In the meantime take a daily multivitamin, eat right, no alcohol, drugs or smoking and dont overdo it. Congrats!!
You should insist that you have an earlier apportionment I'm high risk they double book me on other peoples appointments all the time. I have been bumped off an appointment before. This is what i do to get my way I act really confused and upset. Just say listen I don't understand I've been here for years and I am high-risk (not really but based on age you are!) just get all frantic and say is there anything that can be done it's really important that I see the doc. sooner. Usually they will accommodate you f they can. But if for whatever reason they can't just ask that if a cancellation happens before the 25th which is highly likely see if they can let you know so that you can take that spot if you can make it at that time.

BUT I know many Ob's don't see women until after 8 weeks before 8 weeks they really don't do much other than blood work and you can get that done without seeing a doctor but the doc. will call you if there is a problem if not the nurse will just say everything is fine. I think the lack of urgency is because your not 8 weeks yet. Well good luck and congrats!
That's to long you are considered a high risk I personally would be looking for another ob. My third pregnancy i changed obs 4 times only because they seemed so disinterested in there job and my care. My fourth was the best ever if your in Houston his name is Jonathan Russell you;ll be very impressed.
I reported him! Thanks for the points! Anyways, I would try and speak with them about this. I'm sure they would understand, and at least call you with any cancellations. They should have the courtesy to know, you can't cancell that quickly, and if you do, try to give an opening asap. I agree with you, I would be upset. good luck
My gut feeling is to hang on until the 25th, if everything seems to be going well.

The first appointment at the Doctors can be a let down. you want them to be all excited for you and start 'processing you'. They will say congratulations and tell you to come back in a few weeks.

However due to your age (I am 40), you will have to have extra tests, however the days you have to wait until your appointment won't make that much of a differace. However if you are feeling unwell, get in as sooner.
