Can someone give me stories/advice about my puppy problem?

I have a dog who was pregnant(by an unknown male..yeah) and she's Lab/Pit/Retriever. That's probably irrelevant, but she had eleven puppies with one a stillborn and now we have ten in the garage who've been fighting, biting and tearing things up. They're about seven weeks old and I was choosing one for myself today while the others are going to other homes, when one stood out particularly. They're all very cute and seem to have different faces, but this one puppy(girl) was very calm. Probably the calmest even when her brothers and sisters fight around her. I reached out to her and she hid under a wagon and inched further away while the others were trying to eat my hand off or thought it was some kind of game.

Somehow I got a hold of her and slowly stroked her fur and behind her ears and under her chin and I took her in the house(she's the first puppy to go inside). She sniffed around and watched a little Animal Planet, made a few whines and let me pet her some more. I took her back out to the garage with her brothers and sisters and she hasn't shied away from me yet. What I really want to know is, is she just a naturally shy dog? Or will she perk up with maturity. Honestly I'd rather have a shy one than the rest of her aggressive siblings. Can someone give me stories/advice about my puppy problem?
Hi,

I've had experience with puppies like the one you are describing. I don't know for sure whether she will stay that shy, but the ones I have had did.

Is she the runt? Sometimes that could be the reason a puppy is not as interactive or playful as the others. If so, she might eventually very well be just like the others, given free reign of her surroundings. If not, she probably just has a calm, sweet disposition. At 7 weeks, it's pretty hard to tell.

If she is the one you like the most, keep her. She sounds adorable. And at least she is shy right now, whereas the others are crazy. I doubt that will go away for a long while, with them.

I hope this helps you out a little!

:)

Hey Marie and Bonnie...really, guys? Cool it.Can someone give me stories/advice about my puppy problem?
A product of POOR, irresponsible breeding. Have them euthanized before they hurt other dogs, and have the female spayed. Why isn't she already spayed, is what I want to know How can you sleep at nite, knowing you've brought more unwanted, dangerous dogs into this world? Because of people like you, millions of unwanted dogs are euthanized every year.
You should have been responsible and got your dog spayed! Now what are you going to do with all those puppies? The shelters are overwhelmed with BYB puppies and adults.

Nice place to keep puppies ... in the garage. PUh-leese!

When You Get To Know Your Little Puppy For A Bit longer Your Puppy Will Perk Up!!

You See I Know This Because My Dog Had Puppy's And I Picked The Calmest One And He Seems To Perk Up Now!!

I Hop I Get Picked For Best Answer Thanks,

Bye xx
That sounds like a good dog. Usually calm and shy get a little more perky but make a good dog. She sounds like a good puppy!
she either has a calm temprament or very submissive temprament. she should be a good choice for you if your looking for a easy going dog but i would suggest to socialize her a little more as she get older if she stays too shy she could bite someone out of fear unfortunately not every body knows how to approach a dog with shyness and they can get bit i speak out of experience when i was younger i did that and of course got bit. i learned my lesson real quick and i chalked it up to experience but not every body will react like i did you dont want the pound picking up your dog due to their stupidity. so socialization is a must especially with the breeds your dog has in her good luck
Every dog has their own unique personality, just like people. If the puppy is shy, then most likely that's how she will be as she grows up. I've had hyper dogs and shy quiet type dogs, and how they are as adult dogs was how they were when I got them as puppies. Once she's away from all of her brothers and sisters, her personality may grow a bit, be more loving and affectionate with you, but most likely she won't become aggressive if it's not in her nature.
