I don't really understand what you mean with the conceitedness. But just tell him that as much as you like/love him you don't wanna ruin the friendship (or that you want to stay friends cuz you can't imagine life without him), and tell him that maybe you wanna pick up where you left off again someday (if you want), or just telll him to back off a little if you want to stay with him, but if the conceitedness is really bad then just tell him quickly and get it over with, it's like ripping off a bandaid.
But keep in mind, remember how much you liked being single, as opposed to being in a relationship so you don't regret anything. And don't forget, most teenage relationships don't make it past a few months anyway, so if you can't see yourself with him in a few years, don't let it bother you because chances are deep down he knows it's not gonna last that long anyways. give it some time, think about it a bit, and if you really are sure you wanna be just friends sit him down and (not really break up with him though im not a big believer of ';breaks';) i guess just tell him you need a lil bit of time to get your thoughts together and know for sure how your feeling.
