My parents e-mailed me and told me that my brother's friend gave my nephew (my bro's son) a husky. A beautiful dog with blue eyes. My parents told me that our indian neighbours and some other residents complained about the dog's howling. I mean, it's still a puppy that misses it's parents and when I was busy with my final high school exams five years ago, everybody's dogs were howling as usual. They didn't even have the decency to shut their mature dogs up. I always shut my dog's up before. My parents are planning on (or already) gave the dog back before I even got a chance to see it (I'm not in my home town at the moment). I feel so angry and I would love to kill my neighbours and whoever complained. What do you think about this?
I kept my previous dogs quiet whenever they made the slightest sound at night but the other residents never cared about their dog's noise. It's funny that they're complaining to us. This ******* people really piss me off! Can anyone understand how angry I am?Husky dog problem. Can someone offer advice?
Yes. Most people get immune to the sounds they are omitting while are in tune to every other noise around them. Some people do not realize their stereo or tv is too loud and everyone else is upset in the neighborhood. They don't understand sometimes my dog is barking at their cat that is in my yard or is barking at all the people coming in and out of their house visiting their teenage kids. Ya see they just don't know unless you tell them once in a while.Husky dog problem. Can someone offer advice?
I understand, but is the dog being chained outside? Does it live inside? Can they not take the dogs for walks and then keep the dog inside - or is it an apartment situation?
Huskys make terrible outdoor pets because they are isolated. They are the most social of ANY dog breed.
I have a malamute and he always howls at the sirens. I too try to keep him from howling during the night (since he is a year-round outdoor dog). No one has ever complained. I'm guessing that your neighbors have other issues with your family than just one dog.
You do sound angry about this. If I understand what you're saying - because you tolerated dogs howling while you studied for exams years ago, you expected these people should be tolerant of the new dog howling. But it's inconsiderate for people to let their dogs howl so it shouldn't have happened then or now.
It sounds like you may have been willing to spend time with the dog had you of been there, but to address a dog howling requires a LOT of attention and training on the owner's part. Perhaps your parents are not up for it physically or emotionally at this time. When you get out on your own you can have a dog and spend time with him and train him as you wish.
But for now this is one of those things you just have to let go.
