Question about problem with landlord, any advice?

I am a college student and have been living in our upstairs apartment for about 4 months. Below us is commercial space, but until 2 months ago there was nothing there. About two months ago they put in a very noisy work out studio. They constantly have their music playing. In our apartment, this music is very loud. We have contacted our landlord and he has said that he has been ';working on it'; for about a little over a month now. The building is not sound-proofed, and every time I mention the idea to him, he blows me off. To my knowledge, it was a very poor decision to put this business under so many apartments. The music wakes us up in the morning and makes it impossible to do any studying here. I am paying a lot to live in this apartment and it has been an absolutely miserable experience so far. I do not want to have to move everything out and get a new apartment, and I am wondering if there is anything that I can do that can propel my landlord to finally take some action to help make this noise quieter? Thank you!Question about problem with landlord, any advice?
It is not reasonable to rent to people knowing they want a normal living atmosphere, and then put in a business that robs them of a normal life.

I am sure any court in the land will agree the Land Lord has broken the lease and very possibly violated your states tenant land lord laws.

Almost every college in this country has a student housing activist group. Seek them out and enlist their aid in getting the noise turned down.Question about problem with landlord, any advice?
You can't propel the landlord to do anything. If things are as loud as you say then you need to call the police and have them deal with the problem. We no longer respond to noise complaints and advice residents to call the police because they can deal with the problem and issue citations if the problem persist. The only person you need to be calling about this..is the local police department
READ your lease carefully. Does it state set Quiet Times? Is studio breaking those time limits?

Get a letter to LL, polite businesslike language, stating problem, when it was first reported, and his failure to do anything about problem. Note that it is interfering with your Quiet Enjoyment of your apartment. Get a petition by as many apartment dwellers as possible and send it to LL complaining of the noise levels. Request that LL limit studios sound output, put sound insulation in ceiling, that he require that studio put speakers on sound bases, which prevent sound traveling through floors and walls.
